Our long time neighbor, friend and World War II hero, Earl Thompson, passed away on June 8th at Belmont Village in Scottsdale, Arizona. Earl's passing was just two days after watching the 75th Anniversary Celebration of the D-Day Invasion. Earl was 96 years old.
Earl came to Rio Verde from Cedar Rapids, Iowa and bought his first property in Rio Verde, Arizona in 1978. Later, in 1992, he served as president of the Rio Verde Country Club (RVCC). He frequently told people that the RVCC job was the hardest job he ever had.
